Russian machine tool demand in 2012 has increased 13% up to $ 3 billion, Russia is currently 90% dependent on imports of machine tools. Recently, on government thematic work conference of promote the development of domestic machine tool manufacturing modernization of the defense industry ,Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev plan to raise imports tariffs on similar . Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev chaired a meeting on the development of the Russian machine demand for machine tools is expected to 2015-2017, the annual demand in the field of defense industry turnover as high as 100 billion rubles (about $ 3.125 billion). Russian Association of Machine Tool Introduction,2008-2009, as financial crisis, Russian machine tool industry in severe decline, began to rebound in the second half of 2010. 2012 Russian government has introduced a number of policy to promote the development of machine tool industry :Firstly , 2011-2016 government will invest $ 1 billion on machine tool industry ,$ 750 million for product development, $ 250 million for technological innovation, and improve existing Russian machine tool industry's production capacity. Goal is to develop new products every year 50 to 60 kinds. For the developed new product, restrict on imports of similar machines in 3 years . Secondly , within five years from 2011, Russian government will invest $ 300 billion for the construction of power facilities and nuclear power plants, mainly for the purchase of equipment. Meanwhile, Russian military equipment (machine tools, ships, etc.) will invest $ 900 billion, of which $ 400 billion will be used for basic equipment of technological transformation in 2011-2021.
