At present, all the India subway mileage for India with 1.2 billion populations is not reached to New York. But now, India’s local officials are put forward the most ambitious plan: 22 cities plan to build subway; this project will take the cost for US$33 billion, which will bring business opportunities to the companies in China, Korea and Japan. India’s newly elected Prime Minister narendra modi has said India government will build high-speed rail to reduce the dependence on cars, thus it will drive the investment in infrastructure. In Indian cities , the thirst for subway is Mumbai .there are 18 million population in this city ,but there is only 12km rail transit and still not yet been put into use. The capital of western Indian state of rajasthan jaipur will also open the 12km subway project, it will invest about 1.6 billion dollars; In the southern city , the subway is been built in two cities , one is port city Chennai ( formerly is madras) it is Indian automobile manufacturing center , there are Ford , Hyderabad modern factories here , another city is Hyderabad where Microsoft has its R&D center here .the subway between these two cities will be put into operation in 2015-2017. Other subway are been building in Kochi (southern state) Pune (western Maharashtra pu) Lucknow ( uttar pardesh capital) ; Guwhati ( Assam’s largest city in north-west Guwahati) Ahmedabad (the largest city in Western Gujarat state) are in the planning stages. But the biggest obstacles maybe land in the subway project, Mumbai Subway Company said they only get the light rail at the end of a 12 km railway construction permit in February, which is later than scheduled for 6 years. Canada's bombardier transportation business Indian chief representative Harish Dhingra said: "the smaller city in India, land is a politically sensitive thing. That is why except New Delhi, rests of the subway project will delay for half a year to two or three years."Bombardier is the world's third largest railway equipment manufacturers, they invested 30 million Euros to build a railway vehicle factory in Gujarat state in India, and they have offered New Delhi metro system more than 600 subway trains and a third of signal system and equipment. In Indian Subway order battle, China southern railway, South Korea modern railway technology systems, inc., Japan's Mitsubishi, France Thales group, Siemens of Germany and India BEM has various gains, received from locomotives, carriages, communication system to electric power system equipment orders. Indian McKinsey manager Shirish Sankhe said that India's subway development potential is tremendous, "it was only the beginning. In many big cities around the world, 60% ~ 80% of the city traffic is done by public transportation; subway is the very important part in it.” France's Alston transport business President Bharat Salhotra said: "70% of India's GDP will be created by a few big cities, so introducing rail transit system is very important. It can be ground track tram, subway, light rail, inter-city railway or high-speed rail. Hope that the new government will pay attention to this problem, as soon as possible to take concrete action."
