 During the International Engineering Fair, which takes place this week at the Brno Exhibition Centre, there was the competition for the best exhibit. Among the total 26 exhibits ZKL tapered roller bearing unit (TBU) was also nominated under the designation PLC 810-15.A.1. The bearing was designed for a new line of Škoda Transportation trams for cities Miskolc, Konya and Bratislava. These bearings have special seals and permanent filling with grease whose lifetime is at least 1 million kilometers and thus the bearings provide a customer with a high added value in the form of extended service intervals. Moreover, bearing design was optimized by using the most modern methods MKP to reduce stress concentration in rolling contact.
